Magsafe from Smartscan, is an electro-magnetic interlocking system for controlling access the gates and doors that are set within the perimeter safety fencing surrounding potentially hazardous machinery. The system is suitable for most machines which can be rendered safe within 30 seconds from the removal of electrical power.

Magsafe consists of three elements:

  1. Base Unit - an electronic control and monitoring unit
  2. electro-magnets - mounted on the access gates, provide a holding force for 'soft' holding the gate in a closed position and a locking force which prevents the gate being opened. All magnets are monitored to ensure integrity to Category 4 of EN 954-1.
  3. Key unit - a key or coded device fir activating the locking/ unlocking of the gate.
