At Laidler Associates, we are often asked the question why a company who is buying machinery, needs to worry about CE Marking. The CE Marking is dealt with by the machinery manufacturer or supplier so in theory the end user should just need to check that the machine carries CE Marking.
The HSE take a different view however. In their guidance leaflet, 'Buying New Machinery' the following statements are made:
'The manufacturer is claiming that the machinery complies with the law. You still need to check the machine is safe before it is used'.
'Remember, never assume that machinery is safe just because it has CE Marking'
