Legislation, and in particular safety legislation, is an ever changing subject that at times requires an innovative approach in order to fully comply. Take machinery safety as an example. When the CE Marking
Directives came into place in 1995, there were really only three Directives to consider: Machinery, EMC and Low Voltage. In recent years, a number of other Directives have come into force which can affect machinery and so, because of the clause in the Machinery Directive which makes you consider all relevant Directives, these newer Directives must be taken into account.
Explosive atmospheres and pressure equipment might not initially appear to be relevant to the machinery manufacturer and user, but after seeing the scope of these Directives, it is surprising how often they come into play. In order to continue to offer clients a full service offering, Laidler Associates have also had to consider these Directives to see how best they can advise and assist their clients.
The Velosi Group are a leading provider of quality assurance and quality control services who can also offer a number of inspection and certification services through their 36 international offices. They were contacted by Laidler Associates who needed an expert to deal with compliance issues with regards to pressure equipment for a UK client.
The initial project went so well that it was decided to enter discussions into how the two complimentary ranges of services could be brought together.
