The Health and Safety executive (HSE) have announced that this years European Week for Safety and Health, starting on October 13th, will focus on Dangerous Substances in the workplace. John Thompson, head of HSE’s chemicals policy division said, “We are delighted that dangerous substances will be the theme for the Week. Our best estimates suggest that 7,000 new cases of asthma are occupationally caused each year, in addition to 66,000 people who suffer from new or existing skin diseases caused by work. All this is preventable, we can use the week to start to make an impact”.
